Sound Designer’s Starter Pack (free): https://daviddumaisaudio.com/starterpack
Sci-fi sound design is always a lot of fun because you can create almost anything out of any sound.
There’s the classic example of the Star Wars TIE fighter spaceship sounds being made from elephant recordings.
Anyways, with this limitless ability, it’s easy to fall into ‘paralysis mode’ where you don’t know where to start or how you should create a certain sound.
In this video, I want to share with you some quick wins you can get by designing relatively simple patches inside synths and placing them through a Doppler effect plugin to create some pretty convincing spaceship flyby sound effects.
In this video, we’ll go over:
- Designing spaceship sounds in Vital, Phase Plant, and Whoosh (by Tonsturm)
- Using a Doppler plugin to create realistic flybys
- FX, layering, processing, and all that good stuff
If this was valuable to you, please consider sharing it!
