Gear, gear, gear.

We seem to have an obsession with gear in our modern culture. We like to gather and collect gear to help make us feel better about ourselves, and unfortunately, I’m not immune to this phenomenon.

I’ve acquired quite a bit of audio gear over the past few years, but I have always tried to do so when it fills a gap that my current setup is lacking.

Since I’ve had many people ask me about the gear I use and microphones I have, I figured I would make a video about it.

My hope is that it opens you up to what is out there, but more importantly that it helps you make a better decision on what to get IF you do decide to purchase anything. BUT let’s be clear, I do believe that for most sound designers, something simple like the Zoom H4N Pro or the Zoom H6 is more than enough to get started.

In this video, I’ll show you exactly what I use for recording my own sound effects. These are all the microphones, recorders, and accessories I use to go around my house, outdoors, and wherever I travel to record sounds.
