How To Make An 8-Bit Game Starting Sound

Whether you’re jumping into a portal or just loading a game, 8-bit game starting sounds are important to the retro style of video games. As I was creating my 8-bit sound pack, I discovered a few easy ways to create game starting sound effects that I want to share with you.

8-bit game starting sound effects can be created using any synth with a square oscillator. Once your synth is loaded, create arpeggios in an upwards or downwards motion at a fast tempo. Insert a delay pitch shifter as an effect. Tweak the effect’s parameters until you find a sound you love!

What You'll Need

  1. A synth with a squre oscillato.
  2. A synth with a glide or legato function.

If you don’t have any of these tools, check out this page HERE where you can find many free synths to get started.

If this was valuable to you, please consider sharing it!
